Overall, the prevalence of post–COVID-19 condition, or long COVID, has declined among US adults, based on a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) analysis of the Census Bureau’s Household Pulse Survey responses. In June 2023, about 11% of participants with a previous SARS-CoV-2 infection reported currently having long COVID, compared with nearly 19% at 12 months prior. Prevalence of long COVID among all US adults also decreased, from 7.5% to 6%.

Two people who recently attended different agricultural fairs in Michigan have contracted influenza viruses from pigs, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported on August 4. One patient was presumed to be positive for influenza A(H3) variant virus based on local epidemiological findings. Diagnostic testing confirmed the second person’s infection with influenza A(H1N2) variant virus.
